Whitney and Taffeta, Melanin cofounders and sisters, felt very strongly about creating a workspace that reflected their brand while providing a welcoming and productive office for their employees. Additionally, partnering with a team that could guide them throughout the entire process was paramount as this was entirely uncharted waters for them.

From budgets and layouts, look books and finish selections, the O.G.I. team presented multiple design inspirations for the Melanin team to evaluate and iterate on. Additionally, we worked with the buildout team, attending project management meetings to ensure our timeline was aligned to deliver an on-time project. Ensuring the coordination between the furniture and technology (power, data, security) was essential for Melanin so that on move day they could be up and running.
The Results
The Melanin team chose height adjustable desks throughout the space. The perimeter offices were furnished lighter in scale with brand color accents in their seating and filing. The open area workspaces have height adjustable benching with curved organic worksurfaces. We also provided desk screens (Sit On It), also in their brand color that provided some sound and visual privacy. The conference/touch down rooms (Clear Design) provided space for heads down work as well a space to meet and collaborate in private.
